Block Printing
The process of block printing holds a place of pride in India. It is an age old craft that has been perfected and passed down over many generations.
The blocks are made using woods such as teak or sycamore and are lovingly hand carved into intricate designs. It can often take around 10-15 days for a block to be perfected.
Fabric or paper are pinned onto a printing table and once the colours have been prepared, the blocks are dipped into a colour and then pressed firmly onto the fabric. This process is repeated over and over until the design is complete.
Block prints are done by eye, and by hand. Small imperfections are part and parcel of the process but we believe this makes it all the more charming.
